Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is therapy?Therapy is offered both online and in-person in New Port Richey, Florida, providing you with a personalized path to well-being. Each session is tailored to your unique needs, offering a safe and supportive space for self-exploration, growth, and meaningful change.
-
What happens in a therapy session?Sessions last 55 minutes and can be held in-person or virtually for any woman in the state of Florida. During our first session, I will explain the therapeutic process, address the concerns that brought you into therapy, and together will identify the goals you want to achieve.
-
Can I take medication instead of attending therapy? When it comes to medication, it's important to make the choice in consultation with your doctor to ensure it's the right step for you. Research suggests that combining therapy and medication can provide better outcomes for individuals with mental health conditions compared to either treatment alone (NIHR Article). In my past experience, I have found that lasting growth and enhanced well-being come from exploring a holistic approach to wellness.
-
How long does therapy last?Therapy lasts as long as you need it to! It’s all about what works for you and what you’re hoping to get out of it. Some people find therapy helpful for a few sessions while others unpack and explore topics that last for longer periods of time. We’ll go at your pace and check in along the way to make sure it feels right.
-
Will my insurance benefits cover sessions? While I am in-network with Aetna, Florida Blue/BCBS, Cigna/Evernorth and United Health Care, every insurance plan is different. To determine if your specific plan will cover sessions with me, contact your insurance carrier by calling the number on the back of your insurance card. Ask the following questions to ensure coverage of services: • What are my mental health or behavioral health benefits? • What is the coverage amount per therapy session? • How many therapy sessions does my plan cover? • How much does my insurance pay for an out-of-network provider? • Is approval required from my primary care physician?
-

What is your cancellation policy? To keep things running smoothly and respect everyone's time, I require at least 24-hour notice if you would need to reschedule or cancel our appointment. If cancellations are made within that 24-hour window, a $50.00 fee will apply.
-
Are my sessions confidential?Client-therapist confidentiality is generally protected by law, meaning communications remain private unless you give me written consent to disclose information. There are some legal exceptions that would result in sharing without consent, including: • Suspected child abuse or elder abuse. I would be required to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately. • If there is an immediate threat of serious harm to yourself or others, I am legally required to contact the authorities for safety reasons. For self-harm or suicidal thoughts, I will do my best to ensure your safety and work with you, but additional steps may be taken if cooperation is not sufficient.
